It is a common problem to have cracked heels which is usually seen in adult people. It can cause deep wounds when these ignored and can be painful with time.

Main causes of cracked heels:-

Dry air, lack of hydration in body, not taking care of feet, irregular eating, increasing age, standing for long time on rigid place or wearing wrong type of socks or shoes. Sometimes heels get cracked due to few medical conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, corns and calluses, diabetes and thyroid. There are many home remedies available in the treatment of cracked heels and I am going to share top 10 home remedies for cracked heels today with you all.

  1. Vegetable Oil:-

To treat cracked heels vegetable oil is very beneficial to get relief from this problem. You can also use Olive oil, sesame oil, coconut oil and other hydrogenated vegetable oils. For better result use this oil before sleeping in night.

First, scrub feet with soap. Now let them dry. Then apply vegetable oil on heels. Now wear socks and go to sleep. Your heels will get soft and moisturized till morning. Repeat this remedy daily until your heel get from cracks.

  1. Rice Flour:-

Removing dead skin layer present on heels educes cracking and dryness of heels. It can be done by using homemade exfoliating rice scrub.

To make scrub mix two spoon of honey in one bowl rice flour and make paste. If your heels are badly cracked then mix olive oil or almond oil in it. After washing your feet apply this paste. Repeat this process 2-3 times in a week.

  1. Neem:-

Neem is also beneficial for treating cracked heels. Especially when itching and infection occurred in heels. Neem provides moisture to dry and itching skin and it’s fungicidal properties fight with any type of infection.

Make paste of one bowl neem leaves. Now mix 3 spoons of turmeric in it. Apply this paste on cracked heels and leave it for 2 hours. Then wash your heels. Use this remedy for few days and you will see the difference in your cracked heels.

  1. Lemon:-

Lemon has acidic properties which helps to make dry skin soft. Squeeze two lemons in half bucket of warm water. Now dip your feet in the warm water for 15 minutes. During this rub your heels with stone so that dry skin gets removed. Now take out your feet and let them dry. You can also clean your feet with fresh towel.

  1. Rose Water and Glycerin:-

Rose water and glycerin is natural drug for treating cracked heels. Glycerin makes skin soft therefore it is used in various cosmetics. Rose water provides vitamin A, B3, C, D and E and along with this provides antioxidants, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties to skin. Mix equal amounts of glycerin in rose water then massage heels with this.

  1. Wax:-

If your heels are badly cracked and having pain. You should use wax to get instant relief from pain. Wax is very good moisturizer and keeps skin moisturized for long.

Melt wax in a bowl and mix 2 spoon mustard oil or coconut oil in it. Apply it on your feet before sleeping and wear socks after it. Repeat this process 2-3 times in a week.

Note:- Do not apply hot wax on feet, apply it after when it start getting cold a bit. If you are having diabetes or poor blood circulation then do not use this remedy.

  1. Epsom Salt:-

It is necessary to take care of cracked heels so that they remain moisturized and problem does not increase. To make heels soft regularly use Epson salt. It also helps in increasing blood circulation.

Mix one cup Epson salt in one filled warm water tub. Now dip your feet for 10 minutes in it. Take out your feet and scrub them and again dip feet for 10 minutes in water. After that dry your feet and apply any foot cream or petroleum jelly on heels so that moisture gets locked in these. For better results wear socks while dipping your feet so that moisture gets well locked in feet.

  1. Banana:-

Ripped banana is best and cheap remedy for cracked heels. It also has moisturizing properties. Mash one banana and make paste. After cleaning feet apply this paste on heels. Leave it for 10-15 minutes so that you skin absorbs banana’s natural nourishment. Wash your feet after this with warm water and then dip feet in cold water for 5-10 minutes.

  1. Honey:-

Honey has moisturizing and antibacterial properties which makes heels moisturized and healthy.

Put one cup honey in one tub of hot water. Now dip your feet for 15 to 20 minutes in tub. Scrub your heels slowly during this. Use this remedy 2-3 times in a week.

  1. Petroleum Jelly:-

Petroleum jelly provides moisture to skin and protects it from dryness and cracking.

Wash your feet with warm water and then apply petroleum jelly on these. For better results, add lemon juice in it. Now wear socks so that feet can absorb the petroleum jelly. Do this remedy daily before sleeping.

Use these remedies daily to protect your heels. Drink water in good quantity so that body remains hydrated. Eat products containing imega-3 fatty acids mostly in food.
