9 Home Remedies for Cough and Cold in Children’s

A Cough and Cold- Every year millions of infants or small children suffer from cold and cough due to their weak immune system. Generally, the child becomes a victim of it 6-7 times in their first year of life. Home remedies are the best cure for their cold and cough. Moreover, it increases their immunity but if your child is below 3 months then consult your doctor always.

Today I am going to share 9 home remedies which help in any type of a cough and cold problem.

  1. Sponge Bath:-

Give your child a bath 2-3 times a day with cold water or sponge bath to decrease the temperature of their body. Dip a sponge in water of room temperature and then squeeze the extra water in it then clean hands, feet and lower part from the back of the body with the sponge.

Keep a cloth on child’s forehead while he/she is sleeping or taking rest. Don’t use extra cold water.

  1. Lemon:-

Take lemon juice of four lemons in one bowl and add juice ginger piece in it too. Mix it properly and boil on low flame. Filter the water and mix honey according to your taste. Give this mixture to your child 2-3 times a day.

Note:- Use honey in a mixture in place of sugar for a child below one year of age.

  1. Honey:-

Honey is the best medicine for a child suffering from a cold and cough and also when your child is less than 1 year of age. Mix 2 spoon of lemon juice and give it to your child, after some hours of interval. Moreover, one cup of hot milk mixed with honey is effective in curing dry cough and chest pain.

  1. Hot Chicken Soup:-

Chicken soup is also good for small children’s those are suffering from a cough and cold problems. It is light and nutritional. This can be used for treating blocked chest and nose. Antioxidants present in it helps in increasing the activity of cells. You can provide them this soup 2-3 times a day.

  1. Orange:-

Orange is a good source of vitamin C which increases the production of white blood cells. These cells fight with bacteria’s and protect us from various diseases. Orange makes our immune system strong and prevents a sore throat, running nose and cough problems. Give your child (who is below 2 years of age) two glass of orange juice per day and children below this age can drink dilute orange juice. Moreover, younger children’s can eat oranges to get Vitamin C in more amounts.

  1. Ginger:-

In 6 cup of water, put small pieces of ginger and cinnamon. Now boil this mixture for 20 minutes and then filter the water and mix 2 spoons of honey in it and give this to your child regularly in this cough and cold.

  1. Apple Cider:-

Mix one part of raw apple cider and 2 parts of cold water. Dip 2 wash clothes in this mixture and squeeze them. Use them on the forehead and stomach of a child. Change these after every 10 minutes. Do this till fever not starts decreasing.

  1. Breast Feed:-

Breast milk is most important for a child especially when the child is ill. It provides them with an excess amount of nutrients and proteins which helps them in fighting with infections and makes them healthy. Child below six months should be given breast milk for curing cough and cold.

  1. Fluids:-

Give them plenty of fluids to drink. Otherwise, they can become a victim of dehydration which can cause severe problems. High water level dilutes the solid nutrients and increase their immunity which kills bacteria’s responsible for blocks nose, chest and many other serious problems.
