Treatment of Chicken Pox- Chicken pox is a very contagious disease caused by varicella zoster virus which spreads easily from one person to another. It is mostly transmitted by directed contact with blisters of someone who has it already, breathing in virus particles from someone’s blisters, breathing in small particles from the mouth of someone talking or coughing.

Chicken pox infection appears 10 to 21 days after exposure to the virus. The red rashes are the most common symptoms of it. Other symptoms of chicken pox are fever, laziness and fatigue, loss of appetite and muscle pain. Most often people get vaccinates in their childhood because this disease is more common in infants. On the other hand, people having less immunity power, they can also suffer from this.

Generally, harsh symptoms of chicken pox are lasted for about 2 weeks. So, you can use home remedies during this situation to overcome these symptoms.

Today I am going to share 10 home remedies which can help you to come out from the problem of chicken pox.

  1. Baking Soda:

Baking soda can help control itchiness and irritation from chicken pox.

Mix 3 spoons of baking soda in one cup of water. Use a soft cloth to put the solution on affected parts of the body and allow it to dry. You can also use a cotton ball for it. Another option is to mix one-half cut of baking soda in your bathtub and soak in it.

  1. Neem:-

It is useful in the treatment of chicken pox as it has antiviral properties. Moreover, it helps dry out the blisters and relieves itching to a great extent. Take a handful of neem leaves, crush them and apply the paste on affected areas. You can also put a few neem leaves in your bath water.

  1. Carrot and Coriander:-

Soup of carrot and coriander is very much effective for treating chicken pox. It contains an excess amount of antioxidants that help in the healing process. Cut 100 grams of carrots and chop 60 gram of fresh leaves of coriander. Bait them in about two cups of water until half amount of water evaporates. Drink the soup once a day for about month. You can also eat boiled carrots and coriander leaves.

  1. Oatmeal:-

Bathing with oatmeal relieves itchiness and irritation caused by chicken pox. Grind two cups of oatmeal into a powder. Put this powder into lukewarm water in bathtub. Soak in the bathwater for 15-20 minutes.

  1. Brown Vinegar:-

One of the most effective remedies for treating chicken pox is brown vinegar. It relieves skin irritation and prevents scarring by healing blisters. Add one-half cup of vinegar to lukewarm water and soak in a bath for about 10 to 15 minutes.

  1. Honey:-

Honey provides relief from itchiness and helps heal the blisters caused by chickenpox. Apply pure honey on affected areas. Repeat the process two to three times a day.

  1. Herbal Tea:-

You can also use sedative herbal tea made from herbs such as chamomile, holy basil, marigold and lemon balm. Put one tablespoon of any of these herbs in a cup of boiling water. Filter this after some time of boiling. Add little cinnamon, honey, and lemon juice and sip the tea slowly. Drink this herbal tea few times a day for best results.

  1. Lavender Oil:-

Lavender oil is also an effective remedy to reduce skin irritation and itching caused by chickenpox. Dilute a little lavender oil with almond or coconut oil and apply it on affected areas and leaves it on until it dries. Repeat this trick twice a day for a few days. You can also add a few drops of lavender oil and chamomile oil in lukewarm water and soak in this bath for 10 minutes.

  1. Sandal Wood Oil:-

Sandalwood oil is beneficial in the treatment of chicken pox due to its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. Add a few drops of pure sandalwood oil to a carrier oil like almond oil and apply on rashes. Do this regularly until all the scars heal completely.

  • Marigold Flowers:-

Marigold flowers can also be used to relieve itching caused by chicken pox.

Put four spoons of marigold flowers and two spoons of witch hazel leaves in one-half cut of water. Let it mix overnight then grind the mixture thoroughly in the morning. Apply the paste directly on rashes. Rinse it off when it dries completely.

Additional Tips:-

Include figs in your diet during the early stages of chicken pox.

Drink more fruits and vegetable juice.

Eat more vitamin C rich foods.

Apply Vitamin E oil on affected areas when they start healing to reduce the appearance the scars.

Avoid scratching sores as it can cause slow healing and increase the risk of bacterial scratching then trim the fingernails short.

As prevention is better than cure, make sure you get your child vaccinated for chicken pox.

Chicken pox is usually a common disease which improves with time. But if you or your child becomes seriously ill with chicken pox then consult the doctor immediately.
